The Widefield Water Sanitation District, a public community water system under the political subdivision of the State of Colorado with all the powers of a public or quasi-municipal entity, provides water for about 22,414 residents living in Widefield, a large area located just south of Downtown Colorado Springs. Established in 1979, the Widefield Water Sanitation District System currently obtains its supply from a blend of sources: 17 groundwater wells and purchased surface water from the Fountain Valley Authority and Security Water and Sanitation District.
