The Ken-Caryl Ranch Water & Sanitation District, organized as a quasi-municipal government by the Decree of the District Court, provides water for about 12,000 residents living in Littleton, a home rule municipality city located in Arapahoe, Douglas, and Jefferson counties, Colorado. Established in 1973, the Ken Caryl Ranch Water & Sanitation District System currently purchase surface water supplied by Denver Water System from South Platte River. Denver Water stores its water in five mountain reservoirs: Dillon, Antero, Eleven Mile Canyon, Cheesman and Gross and then sent to the metro area through a complex system of streams, canals and pipes to be treated.
