The City of Alexander Water, under the City Utilities Department, provides water for about 27,000 residents living in the Alexander City and the rest of the Greater Lake Martin Area, Alabama. Established in 1872, the City of Alexander currently obtains its supply from a surface water source, the Tallapoosa River (Lake Martin).
