Bridgeport Utilities Board, a public community water system under the local government, provides water to about 5,505 residents living in Bridgeport, Jackson County, Alabama. Founded in 1890, the Bridgeport Utilities Board System currently obtains its surface water supply mainly from the Bridgeport Water Treatment Plant located on the Tennessee River. The three-million-gallon-per-day-capacity Bridgeport Plant also receives water from a spring with a one-million-gallon-per-day capacity. Furthermore, the system has two water storage tanks. Consequently, a one-million-gallon Clearwell is also located at the Bridgeport Plant.
