The Eufaula Water Works, a public community water system under the municipal corporation of the State of Alabama, provides water for about 17,958 residents living in Eufaula, which is the largest city in Barbour County, Alabama. Established in 1947, the Eufaula Water Works System currently obtains its supply from eight deep groundwater wells that are 1,800 feet deep with eleven (11) storage tanks that hold up to 4.5 million gallons of water for high demand periods and an average pumping of 1.5 million gallons per day. The Eufaula Water Works system consists of approximately 165 miles of various size lines that provide water service from Highway 165 South to the Country Club of Alabama (14 miles) and from Lake Eufaula West to the Old Sardis Church Road (8 miles) and currently have five (5) different pressure systems.
