The Montgomery Water Works, a public community water system under the Montgomery Water Works and Sanitary Sewer Board (MWWSSB), provides water for about 240,840 residents living in the area of Montgomery, Alabama. Established in 1854, the Montgomery Water Works collects water from a blend of one third groundwater and two-third surface water sources: well fields in the west and southwest and Tallapoosa River.
