The West Lawrence Water Cooperative, a public water supply services authority, provides water for about 15,039 residents living in the area of Mount Hope, an unincorporated community in Lawrence County, Alabama. Established in 1971, the West Lawrence Water Cooperative System currently obtains its supply via purchase from four sources: surface water from Russellville Water and Sewer Board (Lake Elliott), West Morgan - East Lawrence Water and Sewer Authority (Wheeler Lake Reservoir on the Tennessee River), and Moulton Water Works (Pickwick Lake); and groundwater from Courtland Utilities (wells in the Tennessee River watershed).

WaterZen Rating

Lead levels in the drinking water of some cities across the United States are too high, potentially creating public-health issues for the people living in those areas.

What about West Lawrence Water? How much lead is in your drinking water? And how do those levels compare to other cities in the state? We examined data from hundreds of cities across the nation to understand and grade your water quality.

As you can see, West Lawrence Water received the best-possible grade because the amounts of contaminants found in the water supply were better than the Public Health Goal and most other water providers we've analyzed.
