Established in 1910, the Opelika Utilities Water currently obtains its supply from two surface water sources: Saugahatchee Lake (City Lake), an impoundment of Saugahatchee Creek; and Halawakee Creek, an arm of Lake Harding and an impoundment of the Chattahoochee River.
