Butler County Water Authority, a non-profit organization, provides water for about 14,052 residents living in Greenville, located in the heart of Butler County, Alabama. Established in 1819, the Butler County Water Authority System currently obtains its groundwater supply from six wells that drill into the Nanafalia-Clayton, crops out across the central part of Butler County, and the Providence-Ripley aquifer crops out across the southern part of Lowndes County.
