The Northeast Alabama Water District (NEAW), a public community water system, provides water for about 42,609 residents living in the area of Fort Payne, Alabama. Established in 1978, the Northeast Alabama Water District System is currently obtaining its supply from a blend of surface and ground water sources: Waterloo Springs in Gaylesville, Tennessee River/Lake Guntersville via the Monsanto Water Treatment Plant in Guntersville and Highpoint Water Treatment Plant in Fort Payne. NEAW maintains an extensive network to purchase water from several water systems within northeast Alabama.
