The Pelham Water Works supplies water to about 38,703 residents living in the Pelham area, Shelby County, Alabama. The Pelham Water Works Department collects water from five wells drawing from Copper Ridge Dolomite and Longview Limestone Aquifers. The water from the well is treated with chlorine before distribution. The Department also purchases surface water from Shelby County Water Services, which receives water from Coosa River/Lay Lake. The water is treated at the Talladega/Shelby Water Treatment Plant (TSWTP) and the Shelby South Water Treatment Plant (SWTP).
