The City of Pell Water Works, a public community water system under the City Department of Utility – Water & Sewer, provides water for about 15,402 residents living in the area of Pell City, Alabama, the county seat of St. Clair County along with Ashville. Established in 1927, the City of Pell City Water Works currently obtains its supply from a blend of sources, primarily from groundwater pumped from four wells that are located throughout the city and surface water from the Coosa Valley Water Authority in Ragland.
