Tuscumbia Water Works provides water for about 14,400 people living in the Tuscumbia area of Colbert County. Tuscumbia Water Works collects water from Tuscumbia Big Spring. The water is pumped to the Tuscumbia Water Treatment Plant, where it begins the treatment process: coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, fluoridation, and chlorination. Then water is distributed through more than 70 miles of water mains. The Water Treatment Plant has a capacity of 4 million gallons per day. Tuscumbia Water Works has five storage tanks that can store up to 1,500,000 gallons.
