The Warrior River Water Authority supplies water to about 37,263 residents living in the Bessemer area, Jefferson County, Alabama. Established in 1966, the Warrior River Water Authority collects surface water from Warrior River and groundwater from two wells drawing from Fort Payne/Tuscumbia Aquifer. The water from the wells is treated with chlorine and is supplied to part of the McCalla area, while the surface water is treated with bleach, caustic soda, chlorine dioxide, fluoride, coagulant, and phosphate and supplied to the rest of the service area.
