Founded in 1978, West Etowah County Water & Fire Protection Authority System currently purchases its supply from Gadsden Water Works and Sewer Board, which draws water from more than 31,258-acre Middle Coosa Basin; Douglas Water Authority, whose water sources are four groundwater wells, one spring source and purchased surface water from Albertville Utilities Board, Boaz Water and Sewer Board and Guntersville Waterworks and Sewer Board; and lastly Big Wills Water and Fire Pro Authority.
